The year 2007 began with an unusually mild and dry winter, which led to an extremely early bud-break about 20 days sooner than normal. Summer was in the normal range, with temperatures never above average.
Even and well-distributed rainfall of average quantity during the growing season contributed to the development of the vines. During the month of July, a cooler period slowed the advance of phenological ripening. Despite this, by mid-September the grapes were already close to maturity. The harvest took place between 24 and 30 September.
In summary, it was a normal growing season, just 15-20 days advanced compared to the norm.
Harvest
Each vineyard was harvested individually from the 24th of September to the 7th of October.
Vinification
Each vineyard was vinified separately. After destemming and light crushing, must is "sealed" with CO2 for gentle warm maceration of approximately a day. Alcoholic fermentation begins about 24-36 hours later from native wild yeasts only.
Maceration: Gentle maceration in upright open-top steel tanks for the first 9-15 days of the alcoholic fermentation
Malo-lactic Fermentation: Immediately after alcoholic fermentation in French oak casks with a capacity of 500l.
Alcohlic Fermentation: 28-30 days
Aging: 24 months in French oak tonneaux of 500l, followed by 18 months in bottle.

Wine Advocate: 96 points. #193 Feb 2011 The 2007 Barolo Le Vigne presents a beguiling combination of explosive, ripe fruit and finessed silky tannins that make it a thrilling wine to taste, even at this stage in its development. Small red berries, minerals, crushed flowers, vanillin and sweet spices are woven together in a fabric of undescribable elegance. The French oak has never been better balanced, while the vibrant, crystalline finish leaves a lasting impression. The 2007 Le Vigne has all the potential to develop into a spectacular wine ... actually, it already is. This is a totally stunning bottle of Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027
Wine Spectator: 94 points. April 30, 2012 A lush texture frames blackberry, plum and spice flavors, upheld by the dense, steely structure. Well-proportioned, this needs time for the sweet fruit and structure to harmonize. Very long, with a core of cherry lingering. Best from 2016 through 2035.
JamesSuckling.com: 96 points May 09, 2011 Blueberries, flowers and raspberries on the nose. Full bodied, with velvety tannins and a long caressing finish. Lots of toasted oak. Impressive intensity and richness to this. Best after 2015. But so wonderful now.
IWC: 93 points# Issue 159 November/December 2011 Bright, dark red. Dark raspberry, chocolate and coffee on the nose; smells clearly riper than the 2008. Fat, sweet and plump, with a texture of liquid velvet. Surprising acidity and substantial but smooth tannins give this very ripe Barolo excellent spine. Finishes with a note of menthol. The 2008 may be a bit longer but it's much tighter today.
Malolattiva e maturazione in tonneau francesi.
Vini Buoni d'Italia: Golden Star- Novembre 2011 Raggruppa prugna, bacche nere, balsami e spezie portate alla bocca su trama bilanciata, sapida e dolcezza tannica.
